A Lasting Legacy
The late Louis A. Magnano had build Park Centre into the largest private landlord in Olean, New York, Mr. Magnano was a recipient of Olean's most prestigious honor, the LOUIE (Love of Olean United in Enterprise), as well as a number of business and civic awards from the United Way, Catholic Charities, and the Olean YMCA.
His community support is legendary, a well known philanthropist in the Olean area; his donations included a Leadership gift to the Olean General Hospital for the Heliport which houses the Mercy Flight, and in appreciation, the hospital named the heliport building the Louis A Magnano building. The Olean General Hospital dedicated the new emergency room to him for an additional Leadership gift made to the Hospital. He has donated funds to repair and maintain the City of Olean Ice Skating Rink, which was scheduled to close without private assistance. To honor his generosity to St. Bonaventure University, they named the dining hall after the Magnano family. St. Bonaventure University awarded Mr. Magnano with an honorary doctrine degree. His achievements were extensive. There was never a task he could not complete. He passed away on April 4th, 2011.
